This course is for researchers and their assistants who perform any work with wildlife. Completion of the UNE Animal Welfare and Ethics Course, or equivalent, is pre-requisite.
There are a variety of presentations and resources that can form part of a training program, including refresher training. These may be assigned by a supervisor, or the AEC may request completion of a component.
Links to UNE Animal Ethics Committee Standard Operating Procedures are presented in quiz format to allow users to record that they have read and acknowledged the document.
Assignment upload portals allow users to submit any documents that support and document training and competency in an area of research or a certain procedure. Examples of appropriate documentation include: certificate of completion of a training course, training journals, logbooks, letter of reference, copy of Australian Bird and Bat Banding Scheme (ABBBS) A-class Banding Authority and Endorsement.
Please contact the UNE Veterinarian/AWO if you have issues using this site or to request or suggest content changes. Due to the broad nature of wildlife research there is no "one-size-fits-all" option and this site is intended to evolve and adapt to suit your specific requirements.
