Specific learning objectives

Students should:

  1. Demonstrate the basic principles of post-op assessment of patient and identification of early complications
  2. Demonstrate the basic principles of post-op management of a mastectomy 
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the options for reconstructive breast surgery
  4. Demonstrate the basic principles of management of post-op complications
  5. Demonstrate the basic principles of postop adjuvant chemo / radio / endocrine management of breast cancer.

Skills mastered

Students should:

  1. Demonstrate the skills of examining post-op surgical dressing / wound
  2. Demonstrate effective communication with a post-op patient who has surgical complications.
