Specific learning objectives

Students should:

  1. Demonstrate the skills of diagnosing thyroid-related conditions, hyper / eu / hypothyroidism
  2. Identify the thyroid status of the patient from history and examination
  3. Briefly identify the aetiology of hyper / hypothyroidism
  4. List important differential diagnosis on a patient who is thyrotoxic / hypo thyroid
  5. Demonstrate the basic principles of management of thyroid-related conditions including medical and surgical managements.

Skills mastered

Students should:

  1. Demonstrate the skills of thyroid examination
  2. Demonstrate the skills of judging a patient's thyroid status
  3. Demonstrate the skills of examining neck lumps along with lymphatic drainage
  4. Demonstrate the correct technical skills of additional examination manoeuvres related to thyroid examination.
