Specific learning objectives
Students should:
- Demonstrate the skills of diagnosing thyroid-related conditions, hyper / eu / hypothyroidism
- Identify the thyroid status of the patient from history and examination
- Briefly identify the aetiology of hyper / hypothyroidism
- List important differential diagnosis on a patient who is thyrotoxic / hypo thyroid
- Demonstrate the basic principles of management of thyroid-related conditions including medical and surgical managements.
Skills mastered
Students should:
- Demonstrate the skills of thyroid examination
- Demonstrate the skills of judging a patient's thyroid status
- Demonstrate the skills of examining neck lumps along with lymphatic drainage
- Demonstrate the correct technical skills of additional examination manoeuvres related to thyroid examination.
