Specific learning objectives

Students should:

  1. Demonstrate the basic principles behind management of peripheral vascular disease and compare the risks and benefits of conservative management Vs surgical management.
  2. Demonstrate the basic principles of conservative management of PVD
  3. Demonstrate the basic principles of the surgical management of PVD and compare the endo vascular approach Vs open by-pass surgery in terms of risks and benefits.
  4. Demonstrate the potential risks of open by-pass surgery. 

Skills mastered

Students should:

  1. Demonstrate the skills of pre-operative discussions
  2. Demonstrate effective communication with a patient apprehensive about a procedure
