Specific learning objectives
Students should:
- Demonstrate the skills of identifying common presentations with abdominal pain
- List important differential diagnoses on a patient who is suffering with epigastric / right hypochondriac pain
- Identify the aetiology of cholelithiasis and cholelithiasis and the progress of the disease by taking a focused history
- Gauge current health status of patient by performing a focused but thorough examination
- Identify imaging modalities and further investigations to rule out differential diagnoses
- Demonstrate the basic principles of management of cholecystitis including medical and surgical managements.
Skills mastered
Students should:
- Demonstrate history-taking skills for a patient with right upper quadrant pain
- Demonstrate the skills of abdominal examination.
