Patient was BIBA to the Armidale Hospital Emergency Department after falling getting up from her chair in the nursing home. She fell onto her right side and now has excruciating pain in her right hip. She was unable to mobilise. The nursing staff tried to assist her in getting up, but pain was inhibiting this. This was a mechanical fall with no LOC. No other injuries identified with the fall. Since the fall, any movement of the right leg is causing excruciating pain. The pain is only partially relieved by rest. |

Patient is a retired school secretary who now lives in a nursing home. She lived alone at home until a few years ago when her mobility became an issue for independent living. She never married but has a very supportive younger sister who is well and lives in Armidale. Patient mobilises with a 4WW and has assistance with some ADLs. She is a lifelong non-smoker and is a non-drinker. |
