ePortfolio platforms

PebblePad allows you to share and showcase achievements and experience in a portfolio. This is available for UNE students and staff. 

FolioSpaces is a free ePortfolio site. Premium accounts for individual users are also available for a fee.

Mahara is a free and open-source ePortfolio platform. 

Seelio is a cloud-based service that allows students to open a free account and create an online portfolio. Students can select a custom URL and share their profile with others.

PBworks (Wiki) is a free wiki tool for teams but its features can allow individuals to create ePortfolio sites.

Other platforms that could double as ePortfolios:

Weebly is a free web-hosting service that can be used to create ePortfolios. Features can be added through paid upgrades. A guide is available for using Weebly to create ePortfolios.

WordPress.com is a popular open source online publishing platform, which offers a hosted version of the software, that can be used to build websites or ePortfolios. Features can be added through paid upgrades.

Google Sites offers a free service for the creation of a simple website. Helen Barrett offers a superb guide

Online Resume builders

LinkedIn - Capitalise on your LinkedIn portfolio and use this platform to generate a PDF of your profile. To do this, go to your Profile in LinkedIn and click the More button. Then click Save to PDF. This generates a PDF directly from your profile. You can also choose ‘Build a resume’ to customise sections of your profile to better suit the position you are applying for.

Canva - This platform is free for individuals with numerous free templates.

MyPerfectResume - This site offers a low cost option to building a Resume, which allows you to enter details into a template.

Adobe Spark - This platform has a 14 day free trial, and may give you some ideas on a different way to present your Resume. 

You can also use Microsoft Word, which offers a range of templates to get you started. 

Tips for ePortfolios and Resumes

  • Include key information such as education, work experiences and awards you have received.
  • Keep your Resume concise, so you include only the key information related to the job you are applying for.
  • Ensure you thoroughly read your final version to check for errors, and ask a friend to proof read it as well. 

Standing out with a professional ePortfolio and/ or Resume can make a big difference in getting your application noticed.
