Firstly, you should check with your unit coordinator what types of assistance are considered allowable in studying and completing each assessment task.

Make sure this is conveyed in writing and up on the MyLearn/Moodle site. Each assessment task should have a clear set of statements that clearly defines and explains whether Artificial Intelligence and assistive tools (such as Grammarly) can be used, and if permitted then specific usage and guidelines should be provided.

Please Note – This information concerning the use of Generative AI and assistive tools is required for all assessment tasks across the university. So if your unit does not have this information available – please contact your unit coordinator – and if you are not satisfied with the response please reach out to the School of Education Academic Integrity Office via academicintegrity@une.edu.au just with the Unit Name and Assessment Task and we will take a look, contact the Unit Coordinator and get the information up and published.

In some units your Unit Coordinator will allow, encourage or require you to use AI Tools - and - in other units they will want you to read, summarise and write without using assistance tools.

As computer software and Generative Artificial Intelligence (genAI) advances in sophistication and becomes more prevalent, there is a growing need for students and professionals to be proficient in using genAI tools. Consequently, it is imperative to appropriately integrate the development of skills and knowledge in genAI into our curriculum, learning outcomes, as well as teaching, learning, and assessment activities. If you are not familiar with genAI please refer to https://mylearn.une.edu.au/course/view.php?id=1950&section=2 for more information.

Please follow the advice concerning the use of AI type tools within each unit you are studying - and upon graduating you will have experienced a balanced approach comprising traditional reading, summarising, writing etc without the use of genAI tools and also know how to use AI tools effectively and ethically. This holistic approach will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a smooth and successful transition into your future career.

This includes contract cheating - paying for another person, internet site, computer program, artificial intelligence tool, or other tool to complete work, or using work freely obtained from another person, internet site, computer program, artificial intelligence tool or other tool.
...
*** As you can see using computer-based tools without appropriate permission can be considered as a breach of academic integrity ! So you need to be careful !
