    • 1st Year Teaching and Learning Coordinator - Dr Kasimir Gregory

Hi all! I'm Kas, the First-year Teaching and Learning Coordinator for the School of Science and Technology. That means I'm working with your unit coordinators and disciplines to make sure we do what we can, to give you, the best possible entry to university. That means we want to improve clarity, ensure you know what you need to do, and that you enjoy your studies and feel a part of the UNE community. Often you might be juggling a million life stresses as well as university, and undoubtedly, that is incredibly difficult. We want to do our best to lessen that burden, and make the university experience, not just manageable, but genuinely engaging and rewarding.

My role is to look across first-year units and identify where we can simplify processes, improve communication, and remove unnecessary friction from your learning experience. If something feels confusing, inconsistent, or harder than it needs to be, that’s exactly the kind of thing I want to hear about.

Starting university is a big transition. New systems, new expectations, new ways of learning - it can feel overwhelming at times. You are not expected to figure it all out alone. Part of my job is to make sure there are clear pathways for support, and that you know where to go when you need help.

Throughout the year, you may see surveys, feedback opportunities, or invitations to share your experience - these might be from me, or from your discipline of study or unit itself. Please take a moment to contribute when you can - your feedback directly shapes how we improve first-year teaching and learning for current and future students.

If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions about your first-year experience, don’t hesitate to enter this in the feedback portal on this page. The feedback portal will be open the whole time, and I will read all of these! I’m here to help make your start at UNE as smooth, clear, and positive as possible.

I’m looking forward to working with you and supporting you in your first year.

I've also added a forum for you to introduce yourself, to potentially meet some like-minded people studying similar things!

      Cheers,
      Kas
