Ideas are not innovation. Ideas are a small, but essential part of innovation.

Successful innovation requires planning and an understanding of the operational environment into which the ideas must germinate. Innovation also extends this process to implementation and operationalisation of that core idea.

There are a variety of innovation methodologies that manage change and uncertainty in either operational or design environments differently. In this Unit we introduce Waterfall, Agile, Lean and Design Thinking, allowing you to select, adapt and implement one innovation methodology into a real-world problem or opportunity you are familiar with.

Understanding when to use each methodology enables you to proactively embed your ideas into a variety of contexts and achieve robust, scalable and sustainable activation.

There are 8 videos for Topic 1 - each approximately 25 minutes - where we step you through the key ideas. These are available in the BUS299 Lecture Recordings. The PowerPoint slides we work from are also included in this section for additional prompts.
