Morphine 5-10mg IV Q3H PRN

Ondansetron 4-8mg IV Q4H PRN

The patient was diagnosed with a right posterior hip dislocation, a closed mid shaft left femur fracture and a left Weber C distal fibular fracture. He remains in ED and awaiting to be taken to the theatre to manage his dislocations and fractures. He is given a femoral nerve block to alleviate pain. The patient is now requiring a secondary survey. Now that the leg pain in under control, he is quite aware of left sided chest pain. The left side of the chest in extremely tender to touch and he has pain with inspiration and expiration. He has a respiratory rate above normal and the O2 saturations are slightly down. His only other symptom is a mild headache.

Mother suffers with hypertension and father was diagnosed with Addison’s disease 15 years ago. He has an older sister who is well.

Patient is completing a building apprenticeship through Armidale Construction Group. He share-houses with another apprentice in Armidale. He is currently single but has the support of his family and a strong group of friends.

He is a lifelong non-smoker, will binge drink on the weekends and occasionally uses cannabis.
