Clexane 40mg S/C nocte

Paracetamol 1g PO QID

Endone 5-10mg PO Q4h PRN

Targin 10/5mg PO BD

Ondansetron 4-8mg SL Q6h PRN

Mrs Hansen agreed that a left sided wide local excision with sentinel node biopsy would be the most appropriate treatment. She had a staging MRI scan prior to the operation, which showed some left axillary lymphadenopathy but no distal metastasis.

Since the operation, Mrs Hansen has had post-operative pain but none more than to be expected. She is tolerating a full diet well, opening bowels and had the drain removed on day three post op.

She had noticed the feeling of stretching and discomfort on the surgical site. Later she noted that there is a swelling on the surgical site. her left arm is quite alright. There is no itching or erythema on the surgical site nor on the left arm. She is worried about this “unexpected complication”

Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 50 years of age and required a mastectomy. She has since died of an AMI. Nil other relevant history.

Mrs Hansen is a retired primary school teacher who lives in Wallsend with her husband. They have two adult children and five grandchildren. Mrs Hansen is still very active and loves playing tennis. She is a life-long non-smoker and only socially drinks on rare occasions.
