Preparing for Session 1

Students should:

1. Identify the aetiology of ischaemic heart disease
2. Identify the clinical manifestations of ischaemic heart disease
3. Identify the indication and contraindications to having coronary artery bypass graft surgery
4. Identify the difficulties and complications with performing coronary artery bypass graft surgery
5. Gauge current health status of patient by performing a focused but thorough examination
6. Identify imaging modalities and appropriate further investigations prior to coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
