Preparing for Session 1

Students should:

1. Demonstrate the skills of diagnosing abdominal-related conditions
2. Identify the health status of the patient from history and examination
3. Briefly identify the aetiology of small bowel obstruction
4. Briefly identify the aetiology of inguinal hernias
5. List important differential diagnosis on a patient who is suffering with right lower quadrant pain
6. Demonstrate the basic principles of management of small bowel obstruction including medical and surgical management
